The Westwood High School Golf Team is very competitive and requires great commitment, both personally and financially. Our philosophy is that for our team to excel, players need to be playing as much as possible. It is a requirement that all players play at least 9 holes each week and are getting as much "tournament" experience as possible. Relying on "school" tournaments to get "tournament" experience is inadequate. Those playing at the Varsity level are regularly competing and playing in non “school-related” tournaments.
At Westwood High School, we have a golf class (last block of every other day) where students are required to be at the golf course and are expected to use it to “refine” their golf game. In order to keep their spot on the team, team members know that they have to be at the course nearly everyday (not just our golf class) practicing/playing. Team members are evaluated on a regular basis and know that if improvement is not seen, dismissal from the team is possible.
Anyone interest in applying for selection to the Westwood High School Golf Team will be required to have a physical and UIL/RRISD paperwork completed before participating in the tryouts. If you are interested in trying out for the team click on the following form to let us know about you.

2022 Rules
Suggestions
· Practice and Play as much as possible
· Take lessons from a certified PGA teaching professional (any local area golf course)
· Learn golf etiquette and the rules of the game and use them when you play.
· Play in as many non “school-related” tournaments as possible.
Expectations to be on the team:
· Senior (boys shoot 80 or better; girls (90 or better)
· Juniors (boys shoot 85 or better; girls (93 or better)
· Sophomores (boys shoot 90 or better; girls (96 or better)
· Freshman (boys shoot 95 or better; girls (100 or better)
These are NOT requirements, rather generic guidelines to be a part of the Warrior Golf Team. Individuals scoring below the expectations are NOT guaranteed a roster spot. Each year, we can accept only so many participants in our program and the goal is to keep the top players in each grade.
